Posted in Miscellaneous on December 24th, 2011 by Mike Lee Kanarek

Today was the last workout of the bootcamp here at the National HQ’s….as the last workout we did the “Godzila” Module.

11 weeks of getting up at 5a.m. to workout are finally over…all that attended the bootcamp did Great , both Black belt candidates JB and Luis added a few lbs of muscles for their upcoming Black Belt test at ….. All Eyes on the Conference now!!!

This year’s bootcamp was my warm-up program for my next personal 6 weeks training camp leading right into the week of the conference. This program I will do by all myself even-though a few of my black Belts have already asked to join on the training, but this one I will do solo…anybody who truly knows me, knows I push myself much harder when I train by myself.  I am stronger than ever at 205lbs, in the next 6 weeks I intend to gain 8lbs of muscles and lose 4lbs of fat, bringing me up to the 207lbs to 210lbs window at full capacity of my attributes!!!   2012 is going to ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green Week Starts Tomorrow……

“If There Is No Dent In The Armour, The Armour Has Never Been Used” Mike Lee Kanarek

some mornings I can barely walk (like this morning lol), in my first year of learning how to box back in 1993 I used to constantly walk around with a black eye and  last year I experienced the worst of all my training injuries ever: a torn groin muscle.

Sore, pulled and even torn muscles, bruises, cuts and even broken bones….all these are “Dents” in your armour!

How Many Dents Do You Have In Your Armour Mofucker?!?

Its been a while since I posted here on my blog, been Super bussy

the last few weeks have been suuuper busy for us here at the National Headquarters.

The first Israeli Counter Terror and Warfare Course was GREAT!!!!  ( I will post a detailed post of that on the haganah blog soon…)

a few weeks ago I said I will have great news after having a great staff meeting here at the school…

Here it is : the news for the young generation in our school, our kids program have merged!    and for the adults, HaganaH Black Belts and FIGHT Instructors  now have a BJJ classes!

In other words every kid in our program gets both HaganaH Youth training and RFLX Wrestling training  both straight from the source. The kids are eating it up!!!!!!!!!    we have implemented a split schedule for the kids program. Every class starts with a general warm-up with all the kids for the first third of the duration of the class. Then we split them up into 2 groups; one group works on the HaganaH mat and the other group works on the Wrestling mat for the second third duration of the class. And then finally we rotate the 2 groups for the last third duration of the class. The kids LOOOOOOOOOOVE John Clarke!!!!!!!

For the Black Belts and FIGHT Instructors BJJ classes run twice a week in the evenings. Tuesday evening uts a GI class and Thursday evening its a NO-GI class. The summer is coming and those BJJ class will kick everybody’s ass since I am running this school the “Old School” way, with no aircondition on….doing BJJ with a GI in a 110 degrees is like being in a sauna for 3 hours LOL

Also, coming soon :  S.U.B. YOGA….Power Yoga/Bikram/Ashtanga Style.   more details to come…

The 3 Armours
Posted in Miscellaneous on May 10th, 2011 by Mike Lee Kanarek

1) Physical Armour  2) Strategic Armour 3) Mental Armour

Who ever knows me knows I always think in 3’s , just like there is 3 Points Of Referrences in F.I.G.H.T. for years now my personal training has envolve 3 different divisions of education and training. While they are 3 totally different divisions, they 3 must intergrate into one, and the balance between the 3 is super important! A lot of people end up developing one more thatn the other two and the imbalance is their ultimate weakness.  Today I am only mentioning the physical armour, next time I blog on this subject will be about Strategy Armour…and finally I will blog about the mental armour.

1) Physical Armour : this is where , for me, Combat Fitness comes into play…can I run fast in a chase? can I jump up or down in case of an emergency? can I lift heavy to clear something? Can I push a car that’s broken down? Can I climb a wall? Can I knock out a guy thats heavier than me? Can I Handle the grappling strenght of a wrestler? Can I hold my breath under water? and the list goes on…as you can see , I only concern myself with functional real life issues, not how I look. Those who are consume with how they look already failed, because the theme of their Physical Armour is based on appearance and not on the actual functional purpose of this armour. Thousands of words could be written on functional strenght training and this subject is indeed very complex. Here at the HaganaH  National Headquarters we follow 12 different Combat Fitness modules workouts :

1) Combat Fitness Circuit Class*

2) King Kong**

3) Godzila**

4) Hunter**

5) Ghengis Khan**

6) Longhorn**

7) The Engines*

8) The Gladiators*

9) The Shadow Boxer**

10) The Chairs**

11) The Big Wave*

12) The 35’s*

1 “*” means a total random workout, in other words the stations/exercises are random and never the same.

2 “**” means its a set workout, with a specific target skill/attribute development

with 3 Combat Fitness workouts a week, we shuffle those modules constantly!

I also break this down in 3 circles, with the physical armour being the outer circle, the strategy circle being the midle circle and the mental armout being the inner circle that’s the closest to your inner core.  I will talk about this at the conclusion of this “3 Armours” posts.

Have a Kick Ass day!!!

18 hours of Ground Survival training in the next 3 days…John Clarke text me this morning : ” I blew out the whole school last night and my wrestling mats are disinfected as well if you want to use them”  those 18 hours will feel much better on John’s mats than my FIGHT  mats!!!

Sometimes people ask me ” Do you need to be born a fighter to be a good fighter?”  The answer is no, fighters are developed from the ground up…but one attribute puts Great fighters above good fighters is Courage!

To me Courage is the ability of swiming against the current and keep on swimimg no matter what…the ability to climp a montain no matter how vertical the climb may seem!!!

No matter if you are about to swim or climb, make it the Best you ever did.
